I've managed to get in a consistent workout schedule this week. The the Disney travel and vacation travel of the past few weeks, my body wanted to work! Monday and Tuesday I did low impact cardio at the gym. My foot feels SO much better, but I'm following doctors orders on replacing a % of my running with lower impact exercises. Monday I did 4 miles running with 6 400 meter sprints at 7:40 pace. Then I finished with 20 minutes on the elliptical. Tuesday and Thursday were full body workouts at Evo. Wednesday I replaced my tempo run with 50 minutes of hills on the strider machine. Hello harder than I thought. I was trying to study my RD exam flash cards, but there was so much sweat going on.
Just a warning - football may make the Friday 5 list for the next 4 months. Just sayin'. Not only did the Dallas Cowboys finally beat the Giants at home, but Kyle and I were the high scoring team in our fantasy league. We won $20! Now the pressure is on to keep it up this week. Fantasy football can give me such anxiety - I find myself getting mad at players that I don't even know. Is that normal among the fantasy savvy?
2. Loaded Sweet Potatoes
I have had a craving for loaded sweet potatoes ever since reading Heather's post about them. If Kyle doesn't trick me into going out to eat tonight (I always want to eat in on Friday and he wants to go out) I am putting those on the table. They're a fast and filling vegetarian dinner option. We have some Florida avocados from Kyle's parent's neighbors that will add some healthy fats to the meal.
Random Fact - Heather now lives in Detroit, however I knew her years ago when we both worked for the Orlando Magic and neither of us were bloggers!
3. Magical Dining Month
September is Magical Dining Month in Orlando. You can visit a number of top notch restaurants in Orlando and get a gourmet 3-course dinner for $33. Kyle and I are BIG fans of this delectable month and I've blogged about it for the past 2 years. Saturday night we went to The Capital Grille and next week we're going to Fleming's. If you live in Orlando, don't forget to get your taste buds going with Magical Dining.

You know that you should refuel after your workout with protein, however did you know that the type of protein you pick will be absorbed differently by your body?
I don't know if you noticed, but we rarely discuss CrossFit. Mom said that if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all (wow, I'm feisty today). However a good friend of mine, and future RD, Carly wrote a great post about why she's giving other types of exercise a try. It's a good read.
Track Shack. Several of our clients from Evolution Fitness are running, so I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces in "Beast Mode" shirts! Then Kyle and I are having an early wedding anniversary celebration at our favorite Orlando hotel - any guesses?
What are you up to this weekend?
Do you stick to one type of exercise or do you like to try new things?
Love and Friday fire,
Carissa & Kyle
