Florida is steamy in the summer, but it can be sublime in the early months of the year. We still have the capability to be chilly (around 60 degrees), but most days find their way into the 70's.
Last year in February Kyle, Kelsey, and Matt took a family weekend getaway to the beach. We had such a good time that we decided to do it again! You can read last year's post here. We stay at a condo directly on the beach. It's fully furnished with a kitchen and the beach and condo are pet friendly so Kelsey and Matt's dogs get to come too.
Friday night we arrived around 8pm due to traffic and work. Boo. The girls headed to the grocery store for supplies and Kyle watched the dogs. We played some board games and headed to bed.

I had a long run planned for the am, so I stuck to my usual oatmeal and berries. With a very pleasant view.
After breakfast was cleaned up and digested, Kelsey and I set out for our runs. Kelsey is MUCH faster than me, so I thought of this as a long/tempo run. I wanted to keep an uncomfortable pace, but not be too fast. I stuck with Kelsey for 6 miles and then she went ahead to get more mileage in. My splits ranged from 8:37 (mile 8) to 9:19 (mile 6 into the wind) for an average pace of 9:02 for 8 miles. I secretly wanted to be under nine, but the wind won this round.
Gorgeous pic, right? I make running look good...
After the run, we made some epic sandwiches and headed down to the beach. I tried my hand at a variety of "keep it up" games. We had a great time as the boys tried valiantly to keep the ball in the air.
Kelsey and I also got in some good reading time as the temperature dropped. Who's marathon ready? These girls!
Kyle's parents came by at night and we ordered take out from a local fish place. I had the mahi mahi with spinach.
Sunday I was up early to drive from coast-to-coast. I left the beaches on the east coast of Florida for St. Petersburg and the studios of Home Shopping Network...if you follow me on Instagram then you might know what's up...more on that later.
Was your weekend full of sun or snow?
Love and sandy bottoms,
Carissa & Kyle

Fun weekend! I love the east coast beaches. I feel like I've spent more time at Cocoa Beach this year than any of the ones 40 min from my house :)
