Not Date Night

So what's new with you?  I thought on this Friday I'd share a little life, date night, race training update.  How does that sound?

I ran 9 miles on Wednesday. I wish I could say I felt happier about my training progress. I'm getting the training in, but I'm not getting faster.  I don't know if I should be frustrated with myself, if I should push harder, or if one of the "excuses" rattling around in my head is valid.
Those excuses include: your ankle is still hurt so I don't want to make it worse, it's still hot as heck here, I'm not resting enough lifting and running, I'm a terribly slow human. I really hate beating myself up over it, but I want to be faster.  I feel like it's down to me.  I just can't "push" through pain and the inability to breathe.  Can you?

We got an autographed copy of Emeril's Sizzling Skillets in the mail.  How cool!
If you remember our anniversary dinner at Tchoup Tchoup was less than stellar.  They totally neglected to acknowledge our anniversary at all, so this was their make-up gift.  I appreciate good customer care and am excited about the book.
My husband bullied me into going out to dinner last night.  He did.  He usually works late, but when he got out a little earlier he suggested dinner.  I'm trying to be a very clean dinner, but he knows I can't turn down red wine and Mediterranean grub so we tried out a new location of Bosphorous, a Turkish restaurant near us. So much for my soy/molasses baked chicken.

Oh wait, so much for trying to blog early.  Kyle got home and mother nature was in a wicked mood.  It poured and put on a lightening show for about 3 hours.  Some parts near us got 5" of rain.  Needless to say we didn't risk driving in bad weather for hummus.  Although we thought about it pretty hard.

I quickly turned the chicken I cooked for lunch Friday into Thursday dinner.  Crock pot buffalo chicken, roasted asparagus, and mozzarella sticks rounded out dinner.  Yes, mozzarella sticks.  We had to have some kind of treat!
We watched ESPN's 30 for 30 "Broke" and last week's Real Housewives of Miami episode.  Those Miami ladies are growing on me....I gotta admit...

I also wanted to share two blog posts from this week that I thought were equally informatiive and wonderful:

So are you a speedy runner?  What's your secret?

Love and capers,
Carissa & Kyle
