MidWeek Monday Goal Update

Monday I set a goal to track my daily calories using SparkPeople.  I wanted to give you a quick post to let you know that I was successful thus far and it's given me some interesting diet-related insights.
Two days of nutrient analysis. Doesn't include pre-natal vitamin.
1. I am less likely to mindlessly nibble if I know I will have to enter the food.  "2 handfuls of Cheerios? Not worth the computer search."

2. I was eating an entire extra 300 calorie meal.  Sometimes, for various reasons, I eat dinner later (after 7pm). When I do this I'm very hungry around 530 and I was eating a large snack.  By eating dinner earlier, when I'm actually hungry, I can save those calories and eat more mindfully.

3. Food tracking is tough. It's tedious and boring to track food.  BUT there is a huge value in it.  The awareness it can bring is priceless.  Eating habits are so internal and we often eat without thinking. Food tracking helps bring that awareness and when I feel by diet habits getting off track I go back to the log.

If you made a Monday goal, how's it going?

Have you ever tracked your food?

Love and adding it up,
Carissa and Kyle
