Anniversary Surprise

Kyle is an amazing husband.  I apologize in advance if this post creates any eye-rolling.  I just love that guy!

We spent the weekend celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary.  If you're just catching up from the weekend here's what you missed:
- A new twist on meatloaf
- My running schedule

Kyle is notorious for my over-the-top birthday surprises.  He treats me to a special day that I don't have a clue about until my birthday.  I love it.  Apparently, he missed the memo that anniversaries are for 2 people, because I enjoyed the "day-of-surprise" treatment on Saturday.

In the morning I announced at the Miracle Miles 15k and Kyle worked at Evolution Fitness.  I came home and found a "packing list" for my mystery date.

I was perplexed, because the list didn't include any "nice clothes" for a fancy dinner.  I like fancy dinners.  No dinner on our anniversary? I was intrigued.
The riddle was solved when we got in the car and starting driving.  Stop #1 - Shopping Spree!  Is this guy for real?  I'm so happy I married Kyle, he's a keeper.  I was sent on a shopping spree for shoes and a dress for dinner.  Kyle was driving towards the mall, but I asked to go to Marshall's.  Kyle thought this was hilarious, but I love Marshall's.  Is anyone else with me?  I tried on 3 Michael Kors dresses, but finally settled on a dark burgundy dress from Free People and Rampage shoes.  Total cost - $67. Shut the front door.
I had extra cash left so I picked up a purple Kenar dress and new Oscar De La Renta sunglasses.  I also made a mad dash into Target and ended up with colored pants and a scarf.  We'll see how I feel about those later this week.
Once my wardrobe was ready we headed to Surprise #2.  Where in the world are we?
The Royal Pacific hotel at Universal Orlando.
The hotel is one of three on property at Universal Orlando.  It has a 1950's Polynesian theme.
We were impressed with the decor, rooms, and hotel overall.
After we checked in we took some time walking around the hotel and sat by the water relaxing.
Our dinner reservation was at 8 and we didn't have far to go.  Surprise #3 -dinner at Emeril's Tchoup Chop.
I was excited to eat at Emeril's. We ate at his other Universal Orlando spot last year and loved it.  This year.....not so much.
Our experience at the restaurant was pretty bad.  From service to the food to them totally forgetting it was our anniversary and not bringing the dessert or champagne toast that other couples celebrating received.  It's a little thing, but I was really sad about it.  I think 3 years of marriage deserves a toast, but our waiter couldn't bother. I don't want to dwell on it though.  I had great company, but I won't be returning to Tchoup Chop again.
Crispy tempura shrimp
Dinner highlight - Kyle filet
After dinner we relaxed and watched the Florida State vs. Clemson game. Can I get a "Go Noles"?

Overall it was an amazing "surprise" anniversary.  I'm so grateful to have such a thoughtful, loving husband.  Thank you Kyle.

What's your idea of the "perfect date"?

Love and 3 years,
Carissa & Kyle
