Surfers Paradise on Australia's Gold Coat

Cheers from a gloomy Gold Coast of Australia!
I've been here in Australia for over 24 hours and I can't wait to tell you all about it.

I arrived at my hotel, unpacked, and decided to join the group for a run. After 48 hours of traveling my body needed to MOVE!  It was pouring rain. Who cares!
3 miles later I looked like this.
That's how you do it down under my friends.

I was in no way properly fueled to run.  I could tell my carbs were low. I was with a "fast to me group" and our average pace was 8:30.

After the run I showered and headed downstairs for lunch.  I'm in Brisbane for a fitness conference so the meals are served group style.  I was a little late and there were slim pickings left.  I settled on as many salad greens as I could, chicken which ended up being raw, and fish 'n chips.  I ate all the salad and the fried fish which was delicious. It was barramundi, which is a very popular fish over here.
After lunch I was lucky enough to take a trip to the beach and the very popular beach Surfers Paradise.
It was cold and windy but still crowded.
After the beach we headed to a local mall to visit a Rebel sporting goods store and take in the local sights.
I had no idea Target was in Australia.
And for Kyle I found the Cowboys....but it's not the same.
I've been in search of koalas and kangaroos and have thus far been unsuccessful. Therefore I'm starting a list called "Animals of Australia that aren't kangaroos"
Look at these angels in the pet store. I'm a sucker for kittens on any planet.
They also sell pigs in the pet store.  Hey buddy...
Overall it was a great first day in Australia. I have more work and fitness related events on the agenda and a full body workout for sure.
What's your favorite animal?

Love and the Pacific,
Carissa & Kyle
