Let The Games Begin

How many of you watched the Olympic Opening Ceremonies last night?
What did you think?

This weekend I've working at Disney doing some announcing at the USSSA Pride professional softball game. Have you ever seen professional softball in person? Those girls are talented. I sometimes get sucked into the game and forget I have to announce! :)
Friday night was our "pinkout" game and I rocked my SweatPink shoelaces.
Can you spot my still swollen ankle?
After work I rushed home around 945 and was greeted with this.
Why thank you husband!
I forgot to DVR the Opening Ceremonies, but we caught the parade of athletes at "Greece", which is the beginning.  We enjoyed playing the fun game of, "Wow, I didn't know that was even a country". Tuvalu - I'm talking to you!

I've always loved the summer Olympics...like lots. As I kid I used to watch videotapes of the 1992 Barcelona games religiously.  Seriously, ask my Mom. I can still quote the diving commentators. Ready Mom..."No Ken Ferguson is in the finals!" :)

However watching the Opening Ceremonies together is something special for Kyle & I, because 4 years ago he came to an Olympic party at my house. We had only been dating about 2 weeks. Memories.
We made these shirts! Beijing 2008.
We had random contests with point values and Kyle with his charm and brute strength won the gold medal. It's a little blurry but that sheet says "clothes carrying - gold".
Saturday morning I woke up early slept in and had a panic attack because I had to run in the blistering heat. I'm was so looking forward to my first run back home.  Hot or not I hit the trail.  I wanted to do 5+ miles, however my ankle is STILL swollen and I didn't want to aggravate any injuries.  I did 4 miles and tried to push the last two faster.
Mile 1 - 9:36
Mile 2 - 9:40
Mile 3- 9:27
Mile 4 - 9:11

I'm going to try to find time this week to work on my training plan for the Women's Half in St. Pete on November 18.  Is your fall race calendar full? If not you may want to check the blog mid-August....hint, hint.
The rest of my day I'm going to spend re-hydrating, doing a massively long case study for the Medical Nutrition Therapy, then heading to Disney for an opening ceremony and softball game tonight.

Enjoy your weekend friends!
If you watched the opening ceremony what was your favorite part?

Mine was the moment with Muhammad Ali and the Olympic flag.

Love and Team USA,
Carissa & Kyle
