I was in Australia for 12 days before I finally saw a kangaroo or koala. It was well worth the wait!
Featherdale wildlife park is "nah-ta-zu"! Ok, that was for you DisneyWorld fans out there. In English, it's "not a zoo". It's a wildlife park with only native Australian animals. Wallabies are walking around and you are able to feed and spend as much time with the animals as you like.
When I first arrived I was giddy at the site of the tiny kangaroos. I tried to get up close with the first two I saw.
After some patience and a cone of yummy food I was queen of the 'roos!
This albino one here was behind a fence, however for some reason she came bounding up to me. It was the coolest thing.
The other highlight of my day life was cuddling a koala. There's rumor that these
The koalas are so fluffy and furry. They literally felt like a ball of fluff. So cute. Their whole area also had an amazing scent of eucalyptus.
I also spent a lot of time watching the very active koala babies at the koala nursery.
The wildlife park is about an hour drive outside of Sydney and cost a very reasonable $27. Petting a koala is totally worth $30.

What's the coolest animal encounter you've ever had?
