Women's Half Marathon

The word is out.
I'm running the Women's Half Marathon in St. Petersburg, Fl on November 18!

I'm running the Women's Half Marathon in under 2 hours.  Positive thinking.

The Women's Half Marathon is a running series geared towards "girl power." The pink on the website, the flat race course, and the super cute palm tree medals drew me in.
2011 medal.
Did you catch that middle part? Flat race course.  That's a must for this Florida girl.

This is a race that I looked at doing last year, but my schedule just didn't work out.  I was ironically in Tampa that weekend working the auto show.  When the ladies from the Women's Half contacted me and asked if I wanted to run, it didn't take me long at all to agree. I now have a reason to train over the summer, a goal, and some serious motivation.

The race is a little over 5 months away, so I'm not in full training mode yet.  I'm slowly increasing my distance and I will add in some tempo and repeat 800's in next month. I will post a full "Sub-2 I'm Coming for You Training Guide" in August.

The training will be a breeze, because when you register for the Women's Half you are given a free online training plan from Active.com.
I was blown away when I saw that.  These plans are great for all runners, but if you are a newbie they are a lifesaver.  They can help you structure your training so you can safely and effectively increase your mileage.

There are 5 races in the Women's Half series with the next one in August in Bloomington, MN.
I've never run an "girl-centered" race, but I've announced several with Disney. They have a different energy about them.  Everyone is so happy and supportive of each other.  Plus the outfits...lady runners dress to impress!  I'm feeling all pink + a skirt!

If you are looking to fill your Fall race schedule, think about the Women's Half here in St. Pete.

It's a beautiful waterfront location AND I have a discount code for $10 off registration.  Use the code FIT2BLOGFL for $10 off the November 18 St. Petersburg race.
I've have my race picked out.
I've have my goal.
I've have my plan.
I've have my Women's Half Gear.
Two hour mark....IT'S ON!

Have you ever run an all female race? What were your thoughts? Wanna run with meeeeeee??????
