After my first full day at the Fitness & Health Bloggers Conference, my answer is yes. Here's why:
- You learn things. About blogging, social media, healthy living.
- You make new friends and fabulous networking, business contacts.
- You get swag.
- You have fun!
If you're not a blogger, don't fear, this conference was focused on the latest health & fitness research that I can't wait to share with you.
Friday morning I woke up at 6am (8am EST) and headed to the hotel gym. There was a workout planned for the day, but I wanted to make sure I got in a little extra liquid awesome sweat. I ran 1.5 miles and did a quick weight circuit.
- Dumbbell squat with shoulder press
- Standing lunge with bicep curl
- Lateral dumbbell raises
- Plank
- Ab jackknives
Then it was off to the official start of my first blogging conference. Breakfast was sponsored by Attune Foods and featured some Driscoll's berries. Attune has a lot of gluten-free options, which makes me a happy girl.

The first session of the morning was a "Blogger to Blogger" session featuring 5 amazing bloggers and FitFluential Ambassadors. They gave a lot of great tips on the importance of writing for your readers and branding.
The bloggers who spoke were fitness experts Kymberly and Alexandra of Fun and Fit, Christine of Oatmeal in my Bowl, Kasey of Powercakes, and Amanda of Happy Mother Runner.

My favorite part of the morning was our "fitness break". What a brilliant idea! Sitting is so "blah" and drains my mood and energy. The staff at the Anschuz Wellness Center took us out to their roof top garden and we did a mini stretching session.
Amazing.
Amazing. Being in such a beautiful environment, surrounded by healthy, fit-loving folk put me in the greatest mood. I just jumped for joy!

I plan on incorporating the idea of adding more "stretch/outdoor" breaks into my daily grind.
After the morning session we picked up our conference badges and spent some time with the sponsors. Insert swag.
I'll be adding in blerbs about the great companies I interacted with over the next few weeks. There were some great healthy products like Choose Cherries, pure Canadian Maple syrup, and Love Grown Foods. I'm obsessed with Love Grown Foods. I love the product, the company, the positive vibe.
I also chatted with some folks from ACE Fitness. Kyle & I are both ACE certified personal trainers and it was great to talk about their programs and our fitness goals with them. I'd love to do more with ACE in the future. Also as a military daughter I encourage you to check out their Joining Forces initiative that supports military families.
It was about this time that I realized I was STARVING! There was a cafe about 5 feet away from me at the time, so I darted there and ordered an amazing chicken and black bean hummus wrap with three bean salad. It was divine. The food here in Colorado seems to be much healthier....is that true?
I'm going to end this recap here and finish the day in a separate post. There's a trip to the human performance lab, Vo2 Max testing, and Tabata in my future.
Even in 1/2 a day, you can see the variety of amazing things available at a quality conference.
Thank you to Refuel with chocolate milk for providing me the scholarship that sent me here.
Moooooooochas gracias.
Have you ever used chocolate milk as your post-workout drink? What do you prefer?
Love and #FHBC12 hashtag overload,
Carissa & Kyle
