Certifiably Certified

I just love to run.  Kyle hates when I admit this.  I think part of him thinks running is a sickness.  I think part of me thinks running is a sickness.  But I just love to run.  If you're a runner then you get it.  If you're not it's okay. We can still be friends.

I love and cherish my Saturday morning runs.  When we are in the heart of race season here in Orlando I miss a lot of them due to announcing. Even though it was muggy, I was thrilled for my Saturday 5 miler yesterday.  The trail is always busy and I like greeting the other runners.

Runners, do you acknowledge runners when you cross paths? Or do you just keep going?  I like to greet them.  Typically it's a "Good Morning" and a smile.  I notice that my pace picks up when this happens.  Happy runner, faster runner?

I'm slowly upping my mileage from my knee/hip/ankle injury mess.  This run was 5 miles and I did it in 47:17 with a 9:27 pace.  I think I will work up to 6 or 7 miles and then add in some tempo and speed work.  Dear knee, play nice.
Before & After
Speaking of runners, Tina had a great post this week answering some of her post marathon questions.  Like, "If you hated it so much then why are you doing it again?" Good read, Tina.

The big K & I had a thrilling Saturday afternoon.  CPR recertificaiton.  Yup, that's exciting.  #nope

We have to be certified per our ACE personal training certification. I feel a little bit guilty dreading CPR class, but after you've already done it several times it gets old.  Nevertheless, we play by the rules.

After CPR, Kyle's parents invited us over for dinner and Sonny's BBQ. I had 1/4 chicken, baked beans, corn bread, and some cauliflower that Grandmother brought me.

The rest of the night was spent watching the last episode of History Channel's Hatfield & McCoys.
We were amazingly intrigued by the saga of this feud. Totally hooked.  I didn't enjoy watching all the shooting, but it was fascinating. If you have 6 hours to spare, we totally recommend it. If you did watch it, we were Team Hatfield....all the way.

Tonight I'm excited to watch Miss USA and be "wowed" by Kyle's pageant judging skills.

Just letting you know....there's a pretty spectacular giveaway starting tomorrow! :)

Are you a history buff? What era intrigues you the most?

Love and bluegrass,
Carissa & Kyle
