It's the end of the month and time for another Foodie Penpals reveal!
For some reason I had a terrible time remember what day it was towards the end of this month. Blond much? So I'm posting this a bit later than usual.
This month I was paired with a blogger I "know" for the first time. Kyle is always laughing because when I talk about bloggers I refer to them as "blog friends." I mean, I've never met these girls, but you interact and see so much of what goes on in their daily lives that you feel like "friends."
My foodie penpal was Julie who blogs at ROJ Running. Julie is an Ohio girl, runner (obviously), and a fellow FitFluential Ambassador.
Julie's package was very exciting to receive, because it contained not only foodie goodies, but fun summer kitchen stuff. I loved this!
Julie sent me summer "ice cubes" so now I can chill my strawberry-basil sangria without it getting watered down. I'm also excited to look for healthy, fruit Popsicle recipes. I'm thinking watermelon mint. Thoughts?
Kyle has been enjoying the plethora of Snicker's Marathon energy bars. Kyle loves snack foods and I like the smaller size of these energy bars.
Julie also sent us a frozen yogurt mix. I don't have an ice cream maker at home, so I am very excited to make this. You use your own yogurt for a base and then freeze. Look for this to appear on a WIAW very soon.
I'm also thrilled with a new salsa to try. You may have noticed that I greatly dislike eggs. The only way I will eat them is with a generous side of salsa. It's more like, "Do you want eggs with that salsa?"
There's also a sweet, pink hurricane dip. I'm saving this for Minnie's first birthday party! :) hee hee!
Thank you Julie for being such a thoughtful, fun penpal! The was one seriously awesome box!
Do you want a foodie penpal?
Pop over to the Lean Green Bean to sign up or read the details below. I also want to give a special shout out to Lindsay who just graduated from Ohio State with her BS in Dietetics. Way to go!
-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
- Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada.

What's your favorite treat to send or receive?
Love and flat rate shipping,
Carissa & Kyle
