I'm Not Playing Around

Dear extra calories,
For the next 11 days I'm not eating you.  I'm serious.  I'm going on a "staycation" and I want to feel good in my bathing suit.  You can try to lure me, but I won't be swayed.  You're out.  I'm NOT playing around.

Your friends,
Carissa & Kyle

We are waging a war on unnecessary calories in this house right now.  2 days in and we're winning!

We have a fun "staycation" planned in 2 weeks and we want to go into it feeling like we've earned the "treats" we'll have there.  We cleaned up our diet, added in more veggies, and cut out the "treats" that we didn't really need anyway.

For the next 11 days we will:
  • Nourish our bodies with whole foods
  • Give our bodies the calories it needs to refuel from hard workouts
  • Eat the calories we need and not the extra calories we want
  • Break the habit of night time snacking
  • Avoid the after dinner chocolate raid (Carissa)
  • Avoid wine
  • Cut down on breads and gluten
  • Drink lots of water and tea
Our current diet is similar to the clean eating diet we used last summer.  Tomorrow I'll have a full diet log from today. The calories aren't drastically cut..probably a difference of 150 a day. The "clean foods" really make the difference.

I want to arrive at the pool with a cute swimsuit and a 6 pack! Of abs...duh!

The truth is that once I banish the snacks and sweet treats for a few days, I really don't miss them.  The cravings stop.  Those first days are the hardest, but once you pass them I find it's easier to focus.

People say "ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN". I agree....with a tiny stipulation.  Abs are made with sweat and hard work in the gym.  They are easily hidden by bad choices in the kitchen.  I'm just letting my abs have a little pre-summer coming out party!

As I've said before, dieting stinks! But if I have a goal in mind...and a partner to overcome cravings with then it gets a little easier.

If you want to clean up your diet, jump on board! We'll be your partner....casual, careless calories don't stand a chance!

What could you do right now to clean up your diet?

Love and will power,
Carissa & Kyle

  2. All the best with the clean eating initiative! I need to get back on the wagon after derailing big time on Easter.

  3. Wine for sure... which leds to eating not my avg portions of food. Must stay strong. I will join you guys. We just need to remember and recognize how good its feels when eating clean.

  4. I am so in. I have a sticky note above my stove that reads: "No sugar, No White stuff, no alcohol" and I plan on keeping true to it until at least April 29th, the day I am to run my first 10k!

    Let's do this thing!
