Oh wait- it's February isn't it? Is it still winter? Apparently Florida missed the chilly memo this year. It's wasn't sweltering, but it beach-able.
Kyle's dad gave us a beach weekend getaway for Christmas. Kyle, Kelsey (his sister), her boyfriend, their 2 dogs, and I took the trip this weekend.
We spent 2 nights at a private house directly on Flagler Beach on the East Coast of Florida. It was a little choppy, but otherwise very pleasant weather.
We each had our own private condo with a bedroom, kitchen, and beachfront access. Within minutes of arriving we were on the beach and the dogs were having the best time ever....dogs love the beach!
Doesn't every vacation have one catastrophe? Well ours happened to poor Baxter the lemon beagle. Thirty minutes there and the poor guy pulled out his toenail on the less than study looking dock.
A little blood, a little trip to Banfield Pet Clinic later, and he was doing better.
The first night there Kelsey & I whipped up an easy dinner.
Baked chicken kiev, roasted asparagus and red potatoes, crab cakes for me, and baked beans.
| Healthy groceries to munch on! |
The second day was very relaxing. We started with a breakfast of sausage, biscuits, eggs, and gravy. I had Kashi cereal with berries.
The day included beach walks, football throwing, family picnics, sand shenanigans, and a little fishing.
Around 4 in the afternoon, Kelsey and I decided we needed to workout. Addicted much?
Kelsey is faster then me so she got in 4 miles while I did 3.4. Then we did some full body moves on the patio. Pin It
Our final evening was spent with some more food....we picked a horrible place for take-out...and some good old fashioned card games!
Weekends are good. Weekends at the beach are even better!
How was the weather in your town this weekend?
Love and salt water,
Carissa & Kyle

We love the beach! Thinking it might be a fun time to take my stepdaughter, her hubby and their new baby to the beach. I would love to do a beach house kind of vacation. Kev and I usually go to Jamaica to an all-inclusive couples resort so something different would be fun.
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like you are having a great time!
Weather here in Chicago was OK this weekend but we didn't get out much LOL
Great post! New subscriber. I came across this workout on peanut butter fingers pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/7881368067718928/ (Her blog: http://www.pbfingers.com/)
ReplyDeleteQuick question. Just want to clarify - for the beach workout. Run 3-4 miles then do 50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups then 50 squats and then repeat with 40 push-ups, 40 sit-ups and so on? I recently started working out again so I don't think I can handle all of those sets. Then again I can work my way up to completing the whole routine.
Hey there! welcome to Fit2Flex!
DeleteThat's a great question and I probably should've clarified more.
You DO NOT have to do 50 pushups, squats, sit-ups in one try! We didn't. For example - do as many push-ups as you can. Take a rest. Then keep going until you reach 50. Then move onto sit-ups and do the same thing.
You can also start with simply the 30 number (taking breaks) and work down from there and slowly build up to a 40 and 50 set.
Let me know if that makes sense or if I can clarify anything else!
Aww poor Baxter! Glad he's all patched up!
ReplyDeleteI'm having some serious beach envy right now - especially since I am pretty much snowed in! Ah!
I took the 12:00 Old city tour. There is modern city tour at 16:00, too.
ReplyDeleteThe guide was a friendly due with typical Ukrainian pronunciation, that is well understood yet. He brought in good info all the time and kept conversing with the diverse group that we were. Moreover, he helped me plan well the time needed for my return, as I had a flight to catch.
I recommend joining these tours, as you can always have a walk around the sites, but it is much, much better learning more about them by a guide, that has lived there and can bring some personal stories, too.
We discovered with http://www.privatetoursinistanbul.com and we highly suggest to anyone whom would like to visit that site.
