Neverland 5k at Disneyland

In my humble opinion RunDisney has the best races!  And not just because I get to dress up in awesome outfits like this!
It’s because of the truly magical and joyful experience they create for the runners and their families in the parks.
Last night was the Neverland Family Fun Run 5k and it was spectacular!
I always think that the parks are better at night…all lit up and gorgeous! Well imagine running through the parks at night with all of your favorite characters too.  Awesome!
This entire race weekend is themed Tinker Bell so Rudy & I (the announcers) got to get in on the fun. We were as you can tell “announcing fairies”!
Disney costuming and cosmetology did a fantastic job getting me and my costume together.  It takes a village and Disney definitely has the best people to get things done!
Thank you Megan, Laurie, Megan, and Megan for helping me feel like a true princess fairy.
It takes a village.
The race started in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle.  I was in awe. No matter how many times I come to Disney I always love the castle.
We even got to take some fun photos inside the castle while waiting for our time to start.  It was insanely windy and apparently I start to look grumpy when the wind blows my wings!
The big excitement of the night was – TINKERBELL! She flew right before the race!! I had goosebumps! If any of you were there I’m sure you can attest to just how cool that moment was.
It was also fun seeing how many runners dressed up and really got into the spirit of the race.  Amazing! I think there was 250 Tinkerbells, 20 Peter Pans, 5 crocodiles, 10 Captain Hooks, and just 2 Mr. Smee’s. I also loved the ladies who dressed as the Dapper Dan's.

As always there are fantastic, inspiring stories that accompany any race.  Our second to last finisher was a woman named Kandee who was there with her grown children.  Kandee had a stroke just 7 months ago, learned how to re-walk, and finished the 3.1 miles that night.  What an accomplishment!
Another great race put on by the RunDisney family! If you ever have the chance to do a nighttime Disney race...DO IT!
