One More Trip Around the Sun

The birthday girl
We had a very social/busy weekend starting with a trip to the "bubble" of Celebration on Friday.  We were celebrating my sweet friend Darcy's 28th "trip around the sun!"  Darcy & I share a love of birthdays (our own especially) and I was happy to be able to share another one with her!

Our first birthday experience together included dancing and green beans in the nose at Joe's Crab Shack circa 2003....we've had many miles and memories since then!

Have we really known each other for 9 birthdays?
Kyle and I got to the Celebration Town Tavern early to watch the 2nd round of the draft.  The Cowboys had the 7th pick that round and we didn't want to miss it.  We were pretty sad when Aaron Williams (CB) was taken by the Texans before the Cowboys pick.  America's Team eventually took Bruce Carter an OLB from UNC.  Kyle is cautiously optimistic about the pick.  He said, "I hope he can stay injury free and can back-up our older linebacker core."  Thank you Kyle Kiper Jr.

Since we got there early we needed some dinner too.  Friday is a workout day for both of us and we had to fuel those muscles.

We both decided on their grilled chicken skewer appetizer.  I had mine with zucchini and Kyle opted for a plain baked potato.  Overall the food was fair....but I'll never complain about grilled chicken.  It is my life.

Zucchini meet chicken
I also enjoyed a portion of Darcy's Polka Dot cupcake cake...I'm a sucker for butter cream icing.  Kyle was very excited to partake in some sugary excitement....but....then his Iphone got knocked on the ground and didn't turn back on.  <enter anxiety>  BUT the IPhone is fine and we were saved a trip to the genius bar.

If there's a healthy tip to be learned for this post it's that you can always find a way to navigate any seemingly unhealthy menu.

Grilled chicken or fish with steamed veggies is something most restaurants can do.  And if they won't then you let me know so I can blast them in a blog!  :)

Plus, a clean dinner allows for a cupcake!

Love and birthday wishes,
Carissa & Kyle
