There are several keys to living well, living healthy, and maintaining you goal weight. I've shared these general ideas constantly in my blog, but I like to recap my thoughts every once in a while.
First - no food should ever be "off limits". Everything can be eaten in moderation and there are special occasions where treats are allowed (birthday, Christmas, ect...) Writing off foods completely only leads to misery and binges.
Second- imho the best way to make a "bad" food better is to add more nutrients and nutritional value to it. I shun empty calories, but a brownie with black beans and fiber AND protein...I'm maybe a believer.
Third- play with your foods. If there is a flavor or something you "crave" find a way to get that same "food high" in a healthier way. My brownies are great for chocoholics. One shouldn't eat brownies everyday, but if these flavors get that nagging food devil whispering on your shoulder to go away... then GREAT!
